John Gilbert
John Gilbert was President of Iolab during most of the 80’s eventually becoming Vice Chairman and a Vice President of Johnson&Johnson, Iolab’s parent company. Under his leadership, Iolab became the market leader in the fast growing ophthalmic surgical market.
Since his retirement from Johnson&Johnson in 1992, Mr. Gilbert has maintained his industry contacts and served as a Vice Chairman and Director of several public companies including Keravision, Rita Medical and Staar Surgical. He has also served on the boards of several non-profit organizations including Project Orbis, Pomona Valley Hospital Foundation and the Pan-American Ophthalmology Foundation. Currently, John serves on the board and is a Director of Visiogen, a privately held device firm located in Irvine, CA developing an innovative accommodating intraocular lens.
