About 3D Vision Systems:

Privately held 3D Vision Systems Inc., based in Irvine, California is developing a groundbreaking digital imaging technology for ophthalmic and other surgeries.  The Company’s Digital Microsurgical Workstation System™ utilizes dual proprietary, high-resolution digital video cameras to capture three dimensional images of surgery in real-time. With the aid of a high speed "intelligence" processor and a 3D image processor, the System displays the stereoscopic, 3D images on a specialized high resolution monitor.  The System is designed to allow for optimal viewing by surgeons and other OR staff and efficient use of space in the OR. 3D Vision Systems believes that its Digital Microsurgical Workstation System™ will ultimately replace current glass optics-based surgical microscopes, which have delivered only modest incremental improvements in image quality and ergonomics over the past few decades. 3D Vision Systems was founded by Dr. David Miller, an internationally recognized ophthalmic surgeon at Harvard Medical School, and Ram Rao, an accomplished entrepreneur with 25 years of experience in the ophthalmic market including several successful start-up companies.
